Rebuilding Futures for Children and Youth Across Johannesburg

Abraham Kriel Bambanani is a registered NPO dedicated to rebuilding futures for children and youth who have experienced trauma, neglect and hardship across Johannesburg.

Through a connected system of care, spanning residential services, drop-in centres, home-based care, early childhood development, and youth skills development, we support young lives as they move from vulnerability to dignity, and from dependence to independence.

This is more than care. This is long-term commitment.

Without Intervention, Cycles Repeat

South Africa faces a high number of children growing up without safe, stable family care due to poverty and inequality, abuse, neglect and family breakdown, limited access to social services, and youth unemployment.

Without intervention, these children and youth are at high risk of poor educational outcomes, long-term trauma, unemployment, social exclusion, and intergenerational cycles of poverty. These outcomes can persist across generations without effective intervention.

We Don’t Define Young Lives by Their Past

At Abraham Kriel Bambanani, we don’t define children and youth by their past or where they come from. We walk alongside them, providing guidance, support and opportunities for them to rebuild their confidence, their identity, their sense of belonging and ultimately, their future.

We don’t step in for a moment. We walk their full healing journey, through every stage. Not just to cope. But to thrive.

We walk with children and youth through every stage of their healing journey — from protection, to development, to independence, and beyond. Because real change takes time. And commitment.

Prevention

Supporting families before breakdown.

Early Intervention

Providing community-based support that stabilises children in their environments.

Statutory Support

Offering residential care when children cannot safely remain at home.
